John W. Boykin, PGA

Founder and CEO, John W. Boykin was elected to PGA of America membership in 1979. In the 30 years that followed his career has followed a diverse and accomplished path. John has been a PGA head golf professional, General Manager and golf facility owner, an author, broadcaster, noted international instructor and corporate spokesman.

Here are a few of the highlights;

  • Over 7 years as Editor and Publisher of Golf Industry Magazine.
  • Credentialed US PGA Tour and European PGA Tour Instructor for 6 years.
  • Has had tips and instruction published in Golf Digest Magazine, Golf Magazine and Senior Golfer Magazine.
  • Has appeared as a featured instructor on the Golf Channel's Academy Live.
  • Served as the PGA International Teaching Professional for The Duke's Course, St. Andrews, Scotland.
  • Creator of The Scoring Academy, a "short game" learning program that is the result of working with more than 100 world class players on every professional tour. This program has been taught to corporate executives and their guests both in the US and abroad.
  • Creator of the Secrets of Scoring, a 50-minute DVD presentation of tour-proven stroke saving techniques.
  • Various radio and television broadcasting credits, including; 14-years as the voice for a 6-city radio network for The Masters highlights, on-course commentator for multiple PGA Tour and Champions Tour events for One-On-One Radio Network, color commentator for Sunshine Sports TV Network's Dodge Celebrity Golf Tour Championship and 2-season radio color voice for Jacksonville University (FL) basketball.
  • Member, Crail Golfing Society, the world's 7th oldest golf club originating in 1786, 8-miles from St. Andrews, Scotland and the St. Andrews Golf Club (formed in 1843) adjacent to the 18th fairway of the Old Course, St. Andrews, Scotland.

Kevin J. Kinney

Executive Vice President/ Chief Operating Officer, Kevin J. Kinney brings to Business Golf International 30+ years experience as an advertising agency, media and sports marketing professional. He has created and executed sponsorship programs for leading consumer brands and resort hotel chains with PGA golf tournaments, MLB, NFL, NBA and NHL teams, Grand Slam tennis events and sports TV networks.

Kevin's considerable expertise and experience in the game and business of golf include serving as Advertising Director of Golf Industry Magazine and holding positions with PGA Magazine, The Country Club Magazine and other consumer and trade titles in the tennis, international travel, meeting planning and airline in-flight magazine categories.

His creative and communication skills were honed while a senior executive and part of senior management at leading advertising agencies in Atlanta. Kevin worked on blue chip clients like Coca-Cola, UPS, Turner Broadcasting, Marriott Hotels and BellSouth/AT&T. His many success stories are the result of extensive advertising agency account management & business development experience, from shaping strategy to tactical implementation.

Kevin is active in the Atlanta Sports Council and The Southeast Tourism Society and has been involved in the management of golf events and other fundraising activities for a number of charities including the American Cancer Society and the East Lake Foundation.

Kevin's many contributions to Business Golf International insure our clients benefit from utilizing golf to achieve their business goals. His creativity and imagination have often provided results that far exceed those goals.

An avid baseball fan and golfer, Kevin has reached the conclusion that golf is harder than baseball. In golf, you have to play your foul balls.


Alasdair Busby

Alasdair Busby Alasdair Busby is a highly experienced operational manager and brings over 25 years of experience of golf management, tourism and leadership to lead the initiatives for BGI in the UK and Continental Europe.

After graduating with a BSc honours degree in Applied Biology & Ecology, he served for 16 years as a Commissioned Officer in the Royal Air Force where he gained extensive strategic management experience, both in the UK and mainland Europe, including Berlin (multi-national allied forces) and with NATO Evaluation Teams. He was solely responsible for strategic safety within the airspace above the South Atlantic Ocean around the Falkland Islands.

Following a distinguished military career, Alasdair began a career in golf and tourism management, successfully establishing a strong credential in both. His unique combination of expertise and experience includes having served as the CEO and Captain of the British Golf Club in Berlin, while in the Royal Air Force was an Extraordinary Member of the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews and was Project Officer for the Alfred Dunhill Cup working with the Executive Tournament Director and organising Committee of IMG and has acted as an Official Starter for the tournament.

Additional noted assignments in the business of golf included serving as Managing Secretary of Crail Golfing Society (1786), the World's 7th oldest Golf Club (near St Andrews), which has almost 1800 members, a Sales & Marketing role with Heritage Golf of St Andrews – Scotland's last golf club manufacturer, based in the Home of Golf and was General Manager & Tourism Coordinator of Blair Castle (12th century) with overall responsibility for one of Scotland's most visited 5* tourist attractions.

Alasdair was a founder of St Andrews Golf Tours in August 2005, an inbound golf tour operator. In April 2008 the Company was awarded the Gold CTW Award for Product Innovation at the China Outbound Tourism & Travel Market in Beijing. Also a Co-Founder of Links With History, a collaborative marketing initiative between four historic Scottish Golf Clubs.

In the last 18 months Alasdair has developed an extensive global business network, travelling over 90,000 miles to locations including Shanghai, Beijing, Toronto, New York, Los Angeles, Cape Town, Hong Kong and Sydney. In April 2009 he was a member of the First Minister of Scotland's Trade Mission to China. This included meetings in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing and a Press Conference to launch a major new golf initiative between China and Scotland.

Alasdair is currently coordinating the ‘Legends' Art Exhibition, which will take place during The Open Championship in St Andrews in July 2010, and is working with Peter Alliss Golf, The Seve Ballesteros Foundation and Cancer Research UK.
